Rancho '24 Time Travelers

It's been a few years since my last visit to Paradise on Earth, Rancho La Puerta. I was delighted to present the most spiritual of the Smackdowns. Before the concert, it was a tie between Bach and Glass winnings by # of concerts, and Rancho broke the tie! Not only that, it was a relatively close contest as well, 53% Glass to 47% Bach.

In contrast to quite a few other contests, the split was quite even in the breakdowns as well. Round 1 was a very close split, 40-60 year olds split right down the middle, and piano players did as well. Check out the details below!

For me, Bach is in a class by himselfz

I stay fully engaged when I listened to Philip Glass

Fabulous!

I chose Glass but I love them both. Amazing performance. Thank you, Frederic

Lovely evening. Thank you!

Thank you!

Thank you! Wonderful. Mad Rush was amazing!

The last song of Glass stole the show for me. Bravo! You are a magnificent musician. The last song was so expansive and had huge range

Amazing!

Absolutely gorgeous performance

Beautiful! Thank you! You are a treat to listen to!

Brilliant

incredible. And without sheet music. What a legend!

all wonderful. Rounds 1 and 3 were very close. Round 2 was a run-away

Loved the Glass pieces, though they are repetitive. Wonderful, thank you!

I was pianist many years ago. Surprised how much I liked the Glass pieces. Dark and dramatic and perfect for thte film score. Very memorable. Bach is always so astoundingly complex and soulful. I was not as moved with the first Bach piece, however.
