So pleased with the concert in La Junta - on the campus of Otero Junior College where there is a real investment in the arts and in music. I had 2 pianos to choose from on stage! The audience was intent and in a great mood. I found the participation particularly engaged and good-natured. And the results were pretty overwhelming - for Debussy! For the very first time, Debussy did not go below 50% in any of the segments, whether by age, gender, round or piano-playing! This was shocking, given that earlier in the day, La Junta students gave all three rounds to Prokofiev. There were only a few young people in the audience tonight, but they almost all went for Debussy.
