Boise is a cultural island that is truly vibrant. It has doubled in size since I was here the first time almost 30 years ago. I really had a wonderful reception this time, with an audience of discerning and appreciative taste. Perhaps it was the beautiful First Presbyterian Church and its vaulted ceiling, perhaps it was the idyllic spring weather and chirping birds, but Debussy won a victory that I’ve rarely seen to one-sided! Many people came up to me to thank me for exposing them to Prokofiev and almost convincing them to even vote Prokofiev over Debussy. But the general trend was definitely Debussy, in all break outs except for the lone “under 21” attendee who voted for Prokofiev
