This was a command repeat performance of the summertime preview Smackdown. Debussy and Prokofiev facing off in the short version of the program: Round 1 - Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque, Prokofiev’s Lt Kije Suite. Round 2 - Prokofiev 2 Sarcasms and a Fugitive Vision, Debussy Cloches a travers les feuilles, Jardin sous la pluie. Round 3 Debussy Reverie, Prokofiev Toccata. This second time at Mohonk, the voting results were: Debussy: 37 Prokofiev: 22 The ballot now separates out the rounds for individual votes, so we can start to see which specific pieces may have an influence on people’s choices. Some details: Round 1 - Prokofiev wins (30-22) Round 2 - Debussy wins (44-6) Round 3 - Almost a tie (Debussy 22, Prokofiev 21) Here are some breakdowns by Gender: Male - Debussy wins (12-3) Female - Debussy wins (24-16) And a breakdown by Age: under 21 21-40 41-60 61+
